10 Practical Ways To Motivate Yourself in 2015

2015 has made its grand entry. Its here loaded with opportunities for us all. But how many of us are really excited about this year?
Do you feel sceptical or positive? Are you still carrying the baggage from 2014? Are you panicking that we're already in 2015, & you can't feel motivated?

Don't worry. It can be fixed. As long as you decide not to stay stuck, you can achieve anything you want and make 2015 your best year ever.

You were born for greatness, so why would you settle for anything else? You cannot afford to waste your life or succumb to a life of mediocrity. 
Whatever your dreams or desires you can make them all come true. What you need is a good dose of motivation mixed with a tablespoon full of hard work, will power & consistency.

At this point we are all looking forward to a great year. I am certainly motivated to attempt new things and be a better person. 
In twelve months I want to look back in awe of myself saying "Wow, did I really do that"?
Likewise, I would love for you to feel the same. I've often been asked, "how do you manage to stay positive, be happy  and cheerful always"? There's no secret. You simply have to love yourself and life. My life is no different to yours. I am no luckier than you are. I have my ups and downs just like everybody else. Over the years, I have practiced being positive. I try to not to allow my problems to get the better of me and take control of my thoughts.

Below is a list of ways I use to motivate myself on a daily basis. 
You can use these methods and inspire yourself to take action and become the person you always wanted to be.

Well, if you know me and know how I live my life, you'd know I walk the talk!
This list has turned me into the person I'm pleased to wake up to every morning. 
It makes me look forward to every single day.
This list has made me love life , be consistent and true to myself.

I think that's proof enough that this list can work wonders for you too, if you put in the effort.

1.  Behave with Confidence 

Everything lies  in the way you carry yourself. Your posture, your walking style, the way you talk can tell a lot about you. If you always walk hunched back, it will only make you feel dull and depressed. Straighten up, don't be boastful. Simply walk with elegance and reasonable pride. This year whether you are alone or in a crowd put your best foot forward and create a first good impression.

2.  Stay around people who motivate you 

If you stay around those who suck the life out of you, who incessantly gossip, those who never stop complaining...how do you expect to stay motivated?
If this is what your circle of friends consists of: Time to move on and mingle with people who inspire you, people worth spending time with and those you can learn from.
As Robin Sharma says,

"Walk with Giants and  Sit with Titans.Your associations determines your achievements"

3.  Make a vision board 

This is a method I knew before but never actually knew the importance of it until later on.The main essence of this concept is to get a styrofoam board or bristol board and fill it up with images and positive notes and keep it somewhere visible. where you can see it every day. Therefore take the freedom to add onto it ANYTHING you wish.

It's all about you. Your desires. Your goals.
It's YOU in the next 12 months or next 5 years.
The images and notes on the board will serve as a visual represention of all that you want to make happen in your life. It might seem childish to some but it certainly helped me make the most of 2014 and I look forward to use it a lot more to create a 2015 worth remembering. Give it a try and see for yourself.

4.  Keep A Journal 

My journal consists of anything that I do during the day which I believe is an achievement. No matter how big or small, I record my accomplishments in my journal. The best thing about keeping a journal is that you can use it to motivate yourself whenever you feel low. Do not grant yourself room to be disheartened by certain events in your day. Instead open your journal, go through your past achievements and allow those to fire up your enthusiasm all over again.

5. Replace bad habits with something worthwhile 

If you have any habit you know isn't doing you any good, then time to replace it with anything worth doing. Its easier to replace a bad habit than eliminate it.  Imagine you waste a lot of time watching TV or playing video games. The most practical way to get motivated and let go of that habit is to do something worthwhile. That could be anything from reading, writing, dancing, singing or travelling.

6.  Have something to look forward to everyday 

As I told you earlier. I look forward to every day because there's always something happening or I simply give myself something to be excited about. The simplest of things makes me happy. I grew to love a walk by the river hand in hand with my husband, giving and receiving a hug, being in the company of wonderful friends, writing a blog post, tapping my feet to a lovely tune, having a bubble bath, trying a new recipe. These are the things that  makes me feel contented. The key to feeling motivated and happy is to give yourself that 'something' to look forward to no matter how simple it might sound to others.

7.  Make use of apps 

If you're on the look out for motivation on a daily basis and looking to stay productive, try using the following apps to stay on top of your game.

Evernote  This is the one I still use and it has helped me achieve my goals.

8.  Watch Inspiring Movies, Listen to Motivational Talks, Read Self-Help books 

Amazon, Kindle, You Tube have all made our lives so much more easier. You can motivate yourself at the click of a button. Make the most of these and spend at least 15-30 minutes everyday Reading, Watching or Listening to something interesting or encouraging every day.

9.  Use Affirmations Daily 

Affirmations are mantras. They are short, simple sentences aimed at awakening your conscious and subconscious mind. Daily repetitions of these mantras can change your life. These mantras can change the way you look at yourself and the world around you. Whatever you tell yourself is what you attract.
My mantra is "Live Life Like There's No Tomorrow".  I repeat this mantra every morning while I'm still in bed, grateful to have been given the gift of life for another day and I know that I simply have to give the best of myself. Use the power of affirmations to transform your life. There are many ways to do so. While you're getting dressed and look at yourself in the mirror repeat these lines:-

I am enough
I create my own happiness
I overcome difficult times positively
I am loved, worthy and unique
I will live life to it's fullest

The above are just a few. You can devise your own affirmations depending on what it is you want to attract in your life. 

10.  Motivate Others 

Let's imagine you're having a rough time, feeling depressed and nobody knows about it. Here comes your broken hearted friend who laments that her boyfriend betrayed her. She becomes irrational and feels absolutely uninspired. What do you do? Remember you are also unmotivated!
You have two options:-

(a) You can either listen and let her lament OR
(b) As a good friend comfort her with soothing words regardless of how you feel inside.
What's your option?
I was sure you would choose the second one. That's the wisest and most human thing to do.
If you've tried it before you would know comforting a person whose feeling low while you yourself are in pain can bring you a lot of relief.
